Two girls take to the road in one of Bangkok's iconic 3 wheeled tuk-tuks and drive all the way across Asia and Europe to make it back to Brighton. It was a blog and now it's a bona fide book
I wrote some time ago about the Tuk To The Road blog, which provided an almost day-by-day account of Antonia and Joanna's intrepid (some may say insane) drive from Bangkok to Brighton across Asia and Europe in a bright pink tuk tuk. From initially picking up their 3 wheeled, open air taxi in the City of Angels through driving it through China, Russia, Eastern Europe and beyond, these two managed to keep posting updates to their blog from the most unlikely locations and really managed to capture the sheer joy of their journey, however frustrating or grubby it could be at times. It was the perfect example of how a blog can document the exhilaration of travelling.
The pair have been lauded many times since the end of their journey, which helped raised money and awareness for the mental health charity MIND. Now the book of the journey - titled Tuk Tuk To The Road - has been published. I haven't read it yet as I only just saw it in a Bangkok bookshop today, but presumably the book polishes the best bits of the blog and perhaps allows for some retrospective additions too. It's available at both Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com and some of the profits also go to MIND.
