10 Baht Domestic Flights in Thailand from AirAsia

Filed under: Cheap Flights    Written by:Chris Mitchell.

AirAsia have launched another of their big promotions with domestic flights priced from 10 Thai Baht - that's about 30 US cents. International flights are also on sale from 100 Baht each.

AirAsia seem to have a big sale on every three months or so, and this time round they're giving away 10,000,000 flights from 10 Baht each. Domestic flights within Thailand start from 10 Baht, international flights are 100 Baht and some flights to Hanoi are free! As ever, the fun is slightly spoilt by the tax and fuel surcharge costs which still impose roughly 1000 to 1500 Baht on each flight, but it's still cheaper than usual.

The flights have to be booked by 20th January and the flight period is 11th February to 31st May. The main annoyance with trying to book these flights is that you have to hunt through AirAsia's booking process to actually find them - instead of AirAsia telling you on what days or times you can find the cheap flights, you have to keep picking dates and hope that the cheap flights come up on the one you've selected. It's a bit like playing the slot machines, but happily without spending any money first.

The free Hanoi flights (besides taxes etc) are probably a response to NokAir recently charging very low prices for Bangkok to Hanoi flights - it looks like these two budget carriers could continue a price war through 2008.

The Bangkok Post today also notes that Thai Airways might soon be flying from Bangkok to Koh Samui, breaking the monopoly of Bangkok Airways and hopefully offering cheaper flights to Samui. New flights hinge on agreement being reached over a suitable flight window being found to connect with international Thai Airways flights from Bangkok, letting passengers transfer direct to Samui through Bangkok from their port of origin. follow the link for real time flight information for Koh Samui Airport.
