Cheap Flights Between London and Kuala Lumpur: AirAsia X Flights Reviewed

by Chris Mitchell on March 18, 2009

AirAsiaX have finally launched their long-haul no-frills budget flights between London and Kuala Lumpur. Find out what it’s like to travel on their cheap flights and if it’s worth the money saved

The Guardian has published a comprehensive, first hand review of what it’s like to fly on AirAsiaX’s new no-frills long haul flights from London to Kuala Lumpur. The journalist gives it an overall thumbs-up, although I think you’d have to be making a significant saving – at least 30 per cent – to make it worth it. And not give in to spending loads of cash on the plane on food and drinks. The promo prices of £99 each way are certainly eyecatching, but regular AirAsiaX prices are nowhere near as low. Keeping an eye on price comparion sites like Compare Flight Prices and Wego.com to see how much you really save is definitely the way to go.

There’s also a useful review of the AirAsiaX flights from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur on iTravelNet – certainly no-frills carriers can work for these 8 hour flights and are great for backpackers to get between Asia and Australia cheaply.

For flights from London to Bangkok, I’ve been impressed by the price and service of both Qatar and Etihad (see my Etihad review).
