Every Friday, a new photo of amazing Asian people and places here on Travelhappy. This week – the costume play kids of Harajuku district in Japan’s capital city
They’ve become a part of the tourist circuit in Tokyo – the Cosplay teenagers of Harajuku that hang around on the bridge outside Meiji shrine, the city’s biggest and most sacred shrine. Here you will find scores of kids in the most outrageous costumes, from punk rockers to anime characters, clustered together like they’re on a non-existent movie set. The Goth Lolita look is a classic yet still very popular look. Harajuku itself is an extremely trendy area of Tokyo, with plenty of cafes and restaurants and the Meiji shrine itself is a definite must-see thanks to its tranquil location within a densely forested park which transports you from Tokyo’s skyscrapers back to an ideal of old Japan.
