Every Friday, a new photo of amazing Asian people and places here on Travelhappy. This week – studying English in Luang Prabang with Laotian monks

Few visitors to Luang Prabang, Laos’ dreaming city on the banks of the Mekong, can fail to be moved by the beauty and tranquility of the city. There are scores of temples with soaring roofs and gold encrusted interiors, around which are always congregated numerous young monks. You’ll never be short of conversation amongst them as the monks are always keen to practise their often excellent English, and can provide an impromptu tour of their temple as well. I found myself sitting down in the monks’ outdoor classroom and going through some homework with one monk – I’m not sure if I made any sense, but at least I made him laugh…
