Hi Doi – glad you liked the post. Just checked out your site – great stuff! Enjoy the Plain of Jars, it’s one of the most memorable places I’ve been in Asia. As I mentioned in the story, some people are disappointed by them, but I thought it was beautiful. Another traveller, Toni, just left a comment on this page saying Mr Kong is still there and friendly as ever, so a good choice for you I think. hey chris, i’m travelling to Laos in a couple of days. am looking for info on the Plain of Jars and stumbled on your site. can’t wait to see these mysterious jars. will check out Mr. Kong’s site too. thanks for the info! :-)

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Mr Kongs Guest house. He is very informative of the Phonsavan area. He took 4 of us on a day adventure…first the market to get our lunch, a visit to a crater, a small beautiful village where paper was being made at the time of our visit,an awesome hike to waterfalls, the Plain of Jars (which where bizarre but cool) and then a buffet dinner at the end of our day. And to think we almost missed the Plain of Jars!! Great experience for sure.

My visit was this year Feb 15-16 2011.
I was so impressed that my Thai wife and I will return again next year. All should visit this area because of the mistery of it all

He can put you in touch with Sang, his uncle who is the guide. Bear in mind I was there 3 years ago, so it might have changed a bit, although having just looked at Mr Kong’s website, his guesthouse looks as good as it was before.
