Hi Gail,
glad you enjoyed the Petra article. Petra itself hadn't changed much in the 10 years between the two times I went there, except for the village outside it (Wadi Musa, I think it's called). When I first went there it was a collection of small houses around a dirt road - when I went back there I wasn't even sure I was in the right place! Huge great hotels either side of a palm tree boulevard. Petra was as awe-inspiring the second time, and I was there with two friends so I played tour guide. I wonder what Petra looked like when you were there, and how you got there too - was it easy to travel in Jordan 27 years ago?
Best

I, too have seen PETRA, the city half as old as time.I am ecstatic it has been included in the new 7 wonders of the world. It has been 27 years since seeing PETRA. I'd go back again, too! I am a retired English teacher and don't travel much any more. I would love to hear from you.
Thanks for writing about one of my favorite places.
Happy travels-

[...] I’ve been keeping an eye on the New Seven Wonders Of The World website and the current Wonders that have been nominated for the voting process. There’s another 150 days to get your vote in, and it’s a fascinating way to take a fresh look at the world and the amazing things in it. The ancient city of Petra in Jordan definitely has my vote as one of the new Wonders - I loved it so much I’ve been there twice. Asia has its fair share of nominated wonders - Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Great Wall in China and Kiyomizu Temple in Japan. [...]
