In Melbourne last July I went on a bit of a bar crawl with Lonely Planet writer Simon Sellars. While we were in Richmond's London Pub ordering a pint of Cooper's Pale Ale, I spotted this barpump monument to Aussie call-a-spade-a-spade straightforwardness on the bar. Piss has long been Australian slang for beer, so it was inevitable that some enterprising brewery would hit on marketing it as such. I wonder if it's trademarked.

(There's a great anecdote in Tony and Maureen Wheeler's The Lonely Planet Story about Australian businessman John Singleton who invested heavily in LP during the 90s to help the company expand. Treating the Wheelers to a day out at the races, Singleton put a huge bet on one of the horses and won. He promptly announced to a full bar that "the piss is on me!")
