(There’s a great anecdote in Tony and Maureen Wheeler’s The Lonely Planet Story about Australian businessman John Singleton who invested heavily in LP during the 90s to help the company expand. Treating the Wheelers to a day out at the races, Singleton put a huge bet on one of the horses and won. He promptly announced to a full bar that “the piss is on me!”)
