Very good description of Bangkok, Chris Mitchell, popping up out of holes like Alice. Im living north of the city at Pak Kret having been here for about 9 months, from rural Australia -its quite a change- and occasional journeys into the REAL 'big smoke'are always both fascinating, exhausting and sometimes quite maddening, but I like it somehow. My son's visiting soon and asked what he should bring. I advised ear plugs for the movies and a face mask for outside...or he could get a pink face mask here, on Tuesdays.
