iPad in Thailand: How Much Do They Cost

The iPad won’t be officially released in Thailand until October, but it already seems to be everywhere you look – and you can have one, if you’re prepared to pay the price

Following on from the current frenzy over the release of the iPhone 4 in Thailand, the next logical question is – when is the iPad going to be released in Thailand?

The official word is that it’s coming soon in October, apparently. That hasn’t stopped plenty of people in Bangkok getting hold of one – there’s been a huge grey market for them since their original US release. Anantara, a luxury hotel in Phuket, has started giving an iPad to guests to use for the duration of their stay.

iPads are currently available in MBK, Fortune Town and Pantip Plaza in Bangkok through grey market sellers – prices are very negotiable, with some people able to get theirs for as low as 27000 18000 Baht );">this informative post about buying a grey market iPad in Bangkok] . This is still quite expensive when compared to the US price and once again, Thailand does not really offer any savings for those looking for discounts on the cost of Apple goodies.

At the moment there’s no confirmation of how much iPads will cost when they are officially released in Thailand, but it’s unlikely to vary much from the official price elsewhere. Singapore and Hong Kong may still be the best place to get one. Techcrunch did a useful international price comparison a while ago.

I’ll update this page with official iPad Thailand prices when they arrive.

  1. Richard Barrow says:

Actually, you can buy an iPad for as little as 18,000 baht at MBK. This is comparable to USA (don’t forget to add tax and recycle fees to Apple’s store) and cheaper than the UK (because of their high VAT rate).

    Thanks for the update Richard!

At MBK you can now get an iPad from as little as 16,000 baht!

    Thanks Richard!
