Professional photographer Roger Arnold has a stunning – and disturbing – gallery of images online from the self-mortification rites at the Phuket Vegetarian Festival
I tripped over these spectacular images online while looking for something else today. They are photos of the gruesome self-mortification rites that take place during the Phuket Vegetarian Festival, which just finished last month in Phuket. The full gallery is definitely not for the squeamish, so consider yourself warned. I’ve written about the Phuket Vegetarian Festival previously on Travelhappy from my own visit last year.
The photos are taken by Roger Arnold, a professional photographer based in Bangkok who I’ve worked with previously as he took the pictures that accompanied my Koh Phi Phi Reborn article for Asian Diver magazine (reprinted on my Divehappy scuba diving website).
