Nic Cage's new Bangkok based film, insect eating footage and Nazi School Sports Day... interesting and stange links about Thailand found elsewhere on the Interweb.

File under Wildly Inappropriate: I wish I could say this is an April Fool's joke, but it's all too real - Absolutely Bangkok reports on one of Thailand's schools recently holding a Nazi Sports Day, where the children dressed up in homemade Nazi uniforms and created huge Nazi style banners. You know, just for fun. The school was somewhat taken aback at the understandably outraged reaction from several quarters. The organisers seem to have suffered the same staggering ignorance of history as the creators of the Indian Nazi restaurant, who were baffled at the howls of protest that greeted their new eaterie. What comes next is that bit about "doomed to repeat itself..."

Bangkok Dangerous, Nicholas Cage's film due out in September, now has a trailer on YouTube filmed on the notorious Soi Cowboy.

Friskodude has more info and some movie poster images.

Photographer Austin Bush has a great Thai food blog, posting images of each new dish he's been trying out - and he's tried pretty much everything. See also 100 Bangkok Dishes To Die For

Private Tours of Bangkok by Lonely Planet writer Chris Rowson - not cheap but you get the insider view of the city's history and culture. I wonder if there are free tours of Bangkok like Tokyo's Free Guides?

And finally, I tripped over this video of a Thai girl eating a whopping great black scorpion recently. It turns out there is a whole subgenre of videos on YouTube of people eating bugs. I feel somewhat queasy. I wonder if in the video below she actually spits the scorpion back out when the camera pans back down into the bowl of bugs. There's more about eating scorpions in Chiang Mai, eating big hairy spiders in Cambodia and China's Speciality Penis Restaurant here on Travelhappy too.
