yes, DivX uses the .divx file format which can be uploaded direct to YouTube. The DivX files are much smaller than .avi etc

DivX and Dr. DivX are not free, neither open source.

You can download them with no charge, however they are sponsored with advertisements in this case.

XviD and FFDshow are open source and free, however they may be illegal to use in some countries.
