Budget air carrier AirAsia has now started flying direct from Bangkok to Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon).
AirAsia continues its rapid expansion across South East Asia with its new flights from Bangkok to Saigon, or to as it’s properly known, Ho Chi Minh City. The budget air carrier has begun offering a daily return flight from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City since April 4th. Searching on the AirAsia website brings up a big range of different fares on different days, from 949 Thai Baht to 2499 Thai Baht plus taxes, which adds around another 1600 Baht each way. You have to be careful that you are actually getting a budget fare.
You can compare how AirAsia’s fares shape up to other carriers by looking on Kayak.com – the cheapest fare I saw there for Saigon to Bangkok after a quick check was $400 US return with Bangkok Airways – ouch! That’s at least twice the price of AirAsia’s flight, even on its most expensive days.
