You are dead on about Green Tangerine - maybe the best restaurant in Hanoi. But not the most consistent, and the kitchen gets overwhelmed at dinner time. Go at lunch for a guaranteed excellent meal. Chris, you seem to know your stuff about eating in Vietnam. You should check out Savour Asia - http://www.savourasia.com. They have a great section on Hanoi food. Raoul D

I have a dinner at the green tangerine last week with a group.My steak was crisp and brown on the outside and raw in the middle - I could not chew it nor cut it. When I complained the waiter said the chef could cut it for me as they did not have steak knives. The dish was $18 USD and not worthy of a good restaurant. The waiter was rude. Most restaurants take diners views on board - not this one. Eat elsewhere
