You need a visa before you enter the country if you want to go to Vietnam. Bangkok’s Vietnamese Embassy offers a standard and express service to get your Vietnam visa organised.
Off to Hanoi next week, having given up on Thailand hotels as too expensive for Christmas. Just applied for a Vietnam Visa – see my previous post about directions to the Vietnam Embassy in Bangkok – and thought it was worth mentioning the prices: it’s currently 1850 Thai Baht for a single entry Vietnam visa. This takes 5 working days to process, with collection on the 5th day. Or you can pay 2500 Baht and get the visa ready for collection the next day. The length of wait and the price both seem more expensive than when I applied last year for a Vietnam visa, but that might be just my imagination.
The Vietnamese Consular is open from 8.30 to 11.30 in the morning and 1.30pm to 4pm in the afternoon. You only need one photo with the application form. Read my original Vietnam visa post for further info on getting there and downloading the application form.
Agoda has a good selection of Hanoi hotels to book online, and I’ve written up the Hanoi hotels I’ve stayed in previously, from the very cheap to very posh. This time round we’ve given up on posh and gone back to guesthouses. Ill post a review of it here when we get back.
