Millions of British tourists come to Thailand each year, but you still need to hunt around to get a bargain flight from the UK to Bangkok
The cheapest airlines flying from the UK to Bangkok seem to be Etihad, Gulf, Emirates and Kuwait Airlines. All of these besides Kuwait get generally positive reviews on AirlineQuality.com – Kuwait is the cheapest but also seems pretty grotty from passenger comments. It all depends what you can put up with. I’d recommend checking several flight aggregators like Compare Flight Prices and having a read of my previous article about where to find cheap flights online. LondonBangkok.com is also worth checking.
I flew with Etihad on the UK to Bangkok flight route in December 2006, which proved to be one of the best economy long haul flights I’ve had. I wrote up a full review of Etihad if you want to know more.
Naturally, the best prices for UK to Bangkok flights change all the time, and I certainly guarantee that these four are always the cheapest, but they certainly come up again and again as likely candidates.
I’d definitely avoid making any flights, UK to Bangkok or otherwise, with Phuket Air, who were considered so unsafe they had to close down flying that route a couple of years ago. I did actually fly with them once, thinking I’d got a bargain, and then read in the papers a few weeks later that it was a flying cigar of doom. Definitely crossed them off my list.
