There’s no airport on the island of Koh Phangan, but Nok Air offer a combination flight and ferry package which saves you the hassle of trying to make airplane and boat timetables work together
Recently I discovered that Nok Air offer a clever flight and ferry combination package from Bangkok to Koh Phangan. Passengers fly from Bangkok’s Don Muang airport into Surat Thani, where a coach then takes them to the pier and the Lomprayah high speed catamaran then takes them across to Tong Sala pier on Koh Phangan. The current schedule departs Bangkok at 0700 am and says it arrives at 1430, so that’s a 7 and half hour journey time and also – blissfully – no messing around trying to make connections between planes, ferries and buses yourself, as it’s all done for you. Price wise it’s around 2500 to 3500 Baht each way depending on the day you fly and the type of ticket you select. (The Nok Flexi ticket currently lets you keep changing your departure date with no penalty and little notice, handy if you want to stay longer on Koh Phangan after the party).
