Air Asia provide an Island Transfer service from Bangkok to Koh Samui. You can buy a combined flight and ferry transfer ticket on the AirAsia website that will let you fly from Bangkok to Surat Thani or Nakhon Si Thammarat, the nearest airports to Koh Samui on the mainland. You are then be transferred to a ferry and taken to Koh Samui.
While it’s more convenient, be aware that it’s much slower than simply flying direct from Bangkok to Koh Samui and landing at Koh Samui Airport. Transfer times can take between 5 to 8 hours as there can sometimes be a lengthy delay waiting for the ferry after landing at the airport. There is also a long drive from the airport to the ferry pier. See the flight example above from the AirAsia website.
You can also book Air Asia flights along with other budget airlines through 12Go, who combine budget flights with ferries and can often be quicker than AirAsia’s official website. Check pricing and availability of flights.
