1,000,000 Free Flights Across South East Asia With Malaysia Airlines
There's a huge price war brewing between South East Asia's airlines and Malaysia Airlines has upped the ante as the first premium airline to offer free flights in order to fill up its empty seats
I wrote earlier this week about AirAsia's free flights giveaway - buy now to get free seats in 2009 - but Malaysia Airlines have gone one better. Not only are they offering free flight booking until early June but you can fly anywhere in the last half of 2008. Malaysia Airlines is also the first premium carrier to offer this radical price slash - rather than the usual Asian budget carriers, who are adept at this sort of promotion.
The promotion ends on June 3rd, so don't miss out. All flights are subject to the usual taxes, surcharges etc so they will still cost you, but there's undoubtedly big savings to be made. If you get a bit creative with your route by going via Kuala Lumpur, you can still save. For example, fly with Malaysia Airlines from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur and then from KL to Siem Reap and you can see Angkor Wat for much cheaper than flying direct with Bangkok Airways from Bangkok to Angkor Wat. You can get a good idea of what normal prices are on any given route by checking flight comparison site Kayak.com
The only downside is that the Malaysia Airlines website is not very easy to use. Instead of telling you which dates the free flights are available on - or at least suggesting them to you when you type in a request - it makes you hunt through different dates until you find the free ones. It's not very customer friendly.
