Airport Bus From Khao San Road – Where To Catch It
You’re at the end of your travels in Thailand. You need to head to the airport from Khao San Road. Here’s where to find the Airport Bus kiosk to ensure a cheap and hassle-free trip to Suvarnabhumi.
The cheapest way to get from Khao San Road to Suvarnabhumi Airport is to go to the Airport Bus kiosk just round the corner from Khao San itself. Walk out of Khao San Road at the Police Station end and turn left. (If you can see Burger King, you’re at the wrong end of Khao San!). Walk down the road around 50 yards and you’ll see the Airport Booth. It’s right in front of the Sawadee KhaoSan hotel. If you check the webpage for the Sawadee KhaoSan hotel, you’ll find a map at the bottom of the page that shows you exactly how to get there.
The airport bus costs 150 Baht and takes around 1 hour to get there. It says it departs every hour, although when I was there with Simona it departed on the half hour. You can go and buy a ticket in advance and check times then – best not to leave it to the last minute.
There are a lot of taxis around here as well looking to take people to the airport. I’d be careful of these guys as they will try to avoid using the meter.

cheapest way (33 baht) is to take public transport. just google for bus 556 bangkok. only one interchange is necessary and the public busses are almost as fast as the “tourist” ones, maybe faster. expect some real bangkok bus experience
of course thait it is the cheapest way, thanx Pete!
To get to the airport, catch bus 556 (again 33 baht), which departs from Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, about halfway between Khao San Road and the Democracy Monument (look for the half-torn airplane sign on the bus stop sign). It will drop you off at the Public Transport Interchange, where you can catch a free shuttle bus to the terminal. These buses may be local, but often they are just as fast as the tourist bus
and what about the operation hour of this airport express bus from khaosan road? is there any earliest bus at around 4.30 AM on sunday? because we have to depart @ 6.45 AM to hanoi..
I’m not sure, but I think it’s unlikely that the bus will run at that time. Just get a taxi – if there is more than one of you it will be almost the same price
Thanks for the advise. I’m happily making my way home soon, thanks to you :-) xx happy travels
You’re very welcome Hazel :) Safe travels home and have a happy new year. Best, Chris
the direct bus service to the airport does not exist anymore. bus 556 is also no longer operating fron the airport bus interchange.cheapest way to get to khaosan road is to take bus 551(it’s a white van) from the interchange to the victory monument. it cost 40 bahts. at the victory monument switch over to public bus no 59 and get off along ratchadamnoen klang road midway between democracy monument and khaosan road. from there, it is a short walk to khaosan road.likewise, it is vice versa to get to the airport.
