If you’re looking to get a drink in Bangkok over the weekend of November 14th to 16th, you might have to look hard – with the funeral ceremony of Princess Galyani Vadhana taking place over these three days, entertainment venues are being asked to close as a mark of respect. The actual specifics are still fuzzy – pubs and bars may be still serving, but they are supposedly meant to keep it quiet. Everything will probably be quite low key, though no doubt persistent partiers will be able to find somewhere to go – even if it’s their hotel room. You can read more about the funeral on Google News.

Actually it is the whole of Thailand. There are also some elections coming up in January when the government also bans the sale of alcohol.
